After exhaustive talks and negotiations that have been ongoing since April with all stakeholders for the 2020 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and Dubai International Baja events. It has been decided that both events will have to be cancelled in light of the Covid-19 pandemic that is still ongoing at this time.
Safety for the competitors, officials and volunteers was always our number one priority and with the recent wave of infections on the rise, we felt it was in the best safety for all to cancel the events.
Back in March we were very optimistic when we had announced both events as being postponed, that we would be able to find a suitable solution to overcome the new challenges that we faced as an organizer. However the ever changing global travel restrictions and infection rates, combined with local Covid-19 regulations and ongoing measures have proven too much to overcome and it is with great sadness will have to wait until 2021 for these two great Cross Country Rally events to return to the United Arab Emirates.
Looking forward we are happy to announce the provisional dates for the Dubai International Baja that will see it’s return on February With plans already in motion, this event will look to kick off the 2021 season for the FIA and FIM World Cup for Cross Country Bajas and Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will be return on November 2021.
More details will be announced soon and the event website updates regularly.
